Product game
For 2 players
Materials:
*2 paperclips
*2 different colored game pieces (e.g. coins, beans, or colored cubes. You will need several of each.)
*Product Game game board
Object: using what we know about multiplication, to be the first to get 4 in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Play:
An online version of this game is available on Illuminations! Challenge yourself to play against the computer.
Materials:
*2 paperclips
*2 different colored game pieces (e.g. coins, beans, or colored cubes. You will need several of each.)
*Product Game game board
Object: using what we know about multiplication, to be the first to get 4 in a row horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Play:
- Player #1 places the paperclips on any 2 of the 9 numbers below. Player #1 multiplies the numbers (factors), and places a game piece on the answer (product) in the grid. Factor x Factor = Product
- Player #2 moves one of the paperclips to a new factor, finds the product, and marks their product with a different color game piece.
- Play continues until one player has marked four products in a row, column, or diagonal.

Headache - Multiplication/division version
Object: Determine the missing factor in an equation. Helps build fluency with multiplication facts.
Materials: Deck of card cards #0-10
3 Player Version
1) The Caller places the stack of cards on a table and gives the other two players one card each. The players must not look at their own cards.
2) When the caller says "headache", the two players pick up their cards and place them on their forehead with the number facing out.
3) The caller multiplies the two cards together and says the total (or product) of the two cards. Each player must look at the others person's number to figure out what card they have. The first player to figure out his/her own card wins both of them.
4) Play continues with the players rotating roles.
2 Player Version
1) Player #1 places the stack of cards on a table and gives Player #2 a card, face down. Player #2 must not look at his/her card.
2) Player #1 flips over a card from the top of the stack.
3) Player #1 multiplies the two cards together, and gives the total (or product) of the two cards. Player #2 looks at the face up card to determine his/her own card.
4) Play continues with the players switching roles.
Variations: to increase difficulty, add in cards for #11-20
